What We Do
Paarl SPCA is dedicated to serving both the community and its animals through essential welfare services. As a non-profit organisation, we depend on a stable income to continue our work. Our funding comes from generous donations, fundraising collection tins in local businesses, animal boarding fees, and the ongoing support of individuals and community groups who help raise funds to ensure we can continue protecting and caring for animals in need.
Our Mission
At Paarl SPCA, our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals through education, law enforcement, and proactive and responsive animal welfare initiatives. We are committed to protecting animals, promoting responsible ownership, and creating a community where every animal is treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
Our work extends to the welfare of all animals, regardless of their role or environment. This includes companion animals, farm animals, working and traction animals, animals bred for food production, wildlife, animals used for entertainment or exhibition, sporting and hunting animals, research animals, and any animal that is neglected, abused or placed at risk.
As part of our statutory responsibilities, Paarl SPCA works closely with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to investigate cases of animal cruelty and enforce animal welfare legislation. This includes, but is not limited to, the Animals Protection Act and the Performing Animals Protection Act. Through education, inspections, investigations and community partnerships, we strive to protect vulnerable animals and ensure that those responsible for their care are held accountable.
